This time of year is full of resolutions: get a better job, lose weight, spend less time working and more playing. As you make your New Year’s resolutions for 2006 regarding fiscal and physical health, don’t forget your emotional health. People are not solitary creatures; we need to be connected with others throughout our lives. But are those connections as healthy and happy as we want them to be? How tense and stressful have the last few weeks been? Did you dread spending time with your family? How are you and your partner getting along? Are you living the life you want to be living? These are some of the questions I would like to help you answer.

Think back to the last time everything was going well in your life. Chances are you felt safe and secure in your major relationships. You and your partner were happy and in synch. If you have children, you felt good about how you were doing as a parent. Everything seemed to be moving with an effortless rhythm. Are you still on track or has something disrupted that smooth flow? If so, what are you doing about it? Do you have a plan or are you confused about where to start?

Each week I will answer questions submitted to this site about what you can do to make your relationships be better. I will also discuss more general topics such as how to beat the marriage odds, what the real effects of divorce are, how to raise healthier, happier children, etc. Let’s tackle those relationship resolutions together so you can have a great 2006.
